Event

This photo is of Master Wright at a promotion. This was a good picture because he is in focus and everything else is blurry. He just started walking and I moved the camera with him to make that effect.

Technical Info:
ISO:210
Aperture: 5.7
Shutter Speed: 1/8 Seconds

This week I chose to take pictures of an event. I took pictures of a karate promotion at Wrights Karate. All were taken 10/23/09.

GIMP Car Edit

This week I used the photo editing program, GIMP to edit a picture of a car taken at the Detroit Auto-Show. I sharpened colors, darkened the background, darkened the windows. This assignment was much more challenging than the earlier GIMP Assignment.

All of the 'Art' you see is made by myself and my friend, Evan. All pictures were created and shot in Saline High School. I tried to use rules of composition like the Rule of Thirds and Depth of Field. I enjoyed making and shooting this assignment.

GIMP Assignment 1

On this assignment, I explored the Image Editing Program, GIMP. I used GIMP to edit size, color, and composition to create an Andy Warhol imitation image using a portrait. I like this program and will definitely use it in the future.

Nature

My best Nature picture was a picture of a tree shot at an upward angle. The Depth of Field shows a clear view of the tree but the branches and leaves in the background are blurred. You can see good texture in the tree.

Technical Info:
ISO: 200
Aperture: 3.1
Shutter Speed: 1/125

All of my pictures were shot in the woods behind Saline High School. I tried to shoot Nature pictures to emphasize texture and colors of Nature. I tried to bring out the best qualities of Nature.

Patterns, Shapes, and Texture

My best example of Patterns, Shapes, and Texture was a picture of the tennis courts at Saline High School. I took this photo early in the morning, around 8:00. That early morning light gives the picture a glow. You can see the sun off of the strings on the tennis net.

Technical Info:
ISO: 200
Aperture: 3.1
Shutter Speed: Unknown

I took about half od the pictures in the album at my house in Saline, Michigan. The other half at Saline High School. I tried to take pictures of everyday things and make them interesting by the perspective they were taken. I tried to show pattern by the perspective. I showed Texture by taking pictures up close. Some of the pictures had all of the categories and some only had one.

Compisition Assignment 2

In Compisition Assignment 2, the task was to explore 5 more aspects of photography.
1.Framing
2.Perspective
3.Space
4.Balance
5.Color

All photos were taken at Saline High School.

I learned a lot about these 5 aspects.

Framing skills helped me give an internal frame in the picture. This frame gave it a sense of organization in the photo.

Using Perspective helped get a new angle on things we see everyday. In my picture I used the side of a building.

Space helped me by getting a good picture without many things in the picture.

Balance helped me balance out the picture. Making sure that the whole picture has something in it. Unless that was the objective.

Color can make or brake a picture. A good use of color can accentuate the picture and make it that much better. Color can establish different moods in a picture. Reds and Yellows can give it an energetic feel. Darker colors and send a different message.
